The Institute was established in 2019 after the entry into force of Act 2.0 in connection with the amendment to the WULS-SGGW statute as a result of the separation of teaching and research activities between Faculties and Institutes by assigning employees of the then Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering representing the newly created discipline of Civil Engineering and Transport, who created Institute of Civil Engineering.
