  • Department of Geotechnics

    The department cooperated with design and consulting offices as well as contractors, including in the implementation of the Tresna, Czorsztyn, Wonieść, Klimkówka, Świnna Poręba, Wióry, Mielimąka, Koszyce and Nielisz water reservoirs, the Żelazny Most copper flotation waste reservoir and the construction of the I metro station in Warsaw. As part of the Geoteko-SGGW-Geoprojekt consortium, geological, engineering and hydrogeological documentation was prepared for the 2nd metro line in Warsaw. The Department has developed technical documentation for the investment task entitled “Sports and recreation areas on the Narew boulevards” in Łomża, which was implemented under the EU structural funds. Recently, the studies of the Department were commissioned by, inter alia, Polaqua – Dragados Consortium, Ronson Development Sp. z o. o., SKANSKA SA, Betotest Polska Sp. z o. o., Geotech Sp. o.o.

    The Department’s offer in the field of documentation, projects, expertise includes:

    – ground research documentation for the purposes of assessing the foundation conditions for engineering structures, spatial development, and design of building structures;

    – geotechnical designs of embankments on low-bearing soils (mineral and organic);

    – geotechnical projects to strengthen the subsoil for the foundation of the structure;

    – assessment of the technical condition of engineering structures;

    – geotechnical (and scientific) supervision.

    The scope of offered laboratory tests:

    Soil physical properties tests: soil moisture and boundaries of soil consistency, determination of graining by sieve and hydrometric methods, content of organic parts, content of soluble salts and calcium carbonate;

    Soil compaction tests: Proctor method (normal and modified), determination of the minimum and maximum soil skeleton volumetric density of non-cohesive soils;

    Soil permeability tests: tests of hydraulic permeability in vertical and / or horizontal directions (Rowe’s chamber), tests of soil permeability using the constant volume flow method, tests of soil filtration properties under conditions of forced and controlled saturation and stress;

    Soil compressibility tests: oedometric tests carried out by the method of load increments IL (1.6 MPa and 30 MPa of vertical load) and the method of constant deformation rate CRS, tests in the UPC consolidometer with controlled negative water pressure in the pores (soil suction pressure);

    Strength characteristics tests: tests in a triaxial UU, CU, CD apparatus at saturation with the use of equalizing pressure;

    Study of deformation characteristics in a small range of deformations: tests in a triaxial apparatus with the use of local (intracellular) measurement of sample displacements and measurement of the velocity of the transverse and longitudinal waves.

  • Department of Hydrotechnics, Technology and Works Organization

    The Department of Hydrotechnics, Technology and Works Organization employs 11 people. They are a team of specialists with extensive experience in the field of construction, engineering and environmental protection, with particular emphasis on hydrotechnical structures, building drainage, geosynthetics, cost estimation and scheduling of works, with building and geological qualifications, certificates of the Polish Geotechnics Committee. The employees of the Department belong to many organizations and industry associations, such as the Association of Construction Estimators, the Polish Geosynthetic Association, the Polish Committee of Geotechnics, the Polish Association of Civil Engineers and Technicians, and the Mazovian District Chamber of Civil Engineers.

    For many years, the department’s employees have participated in studies and commercial expertise. The most important of them are:

  • Department of Revitalization and Architecture

    The employees of the Department of Revitalization and Architecture have qualifications and experience in developing reclamation projects for contaminated areas, including landfills. The team’s special qualifications include experience in the use of the observational method in the reclamation of old municipal waste landfills and numerical simulations of the processes taking place on reclaimed facilities (stability analysis including reinforcements, flow and transport modeling taking into account vertical isolation barriers), including the use of programs based on finite element method (ZSOIL, FEMWATER, MODFLOW).

    The Department’s employees also deal with research and cooperation with business entities in the field of geodesy and cartography, engineering geodesy and mathematical cartography. With the use of geodetic equipment, it is possible to carry out measurements of the displacements of waste landfills, measurements of the displacements of historic objects or engineering structures and cartographic mapping.
